UASs are a challenging research topic, attracting a growing interest from both industrial and scientific worlds. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), which compose a UAS, can be used for a wide spectrum of civilian applications, and can support humans in dangerous and challenging environments. This workshop focuses on the networking aspects of UASs, opening to studies and optimizations at each layer of the communication stack. Furthermore, application scenarios are welcome, with a particular interest in the fields of sensing, Machine-to-Machine (M2M), Internet of Things (IoT) and Information Centric Networking (ICN) scenarios, when dealing with satellite-based and/or terrestrial-based communication systems.
The latter must be able to provide user data and Command and Control (C2) links with the desired level of reliability, and implementing fault tolerance mechanisms. The main focus of this workshop is on civilian applications, in order to cover the most recent results of the international research in this field on ground, air and space scenarios.
Researchers are encouraged to submit original research contributions in all major areas of UASs, which include, but not limited to:
* Robust and fault-tolerant flight control systems
* RLoS (Radio Line of Sight) and BRLoS (Beyond Radio Line of Sight) communications
* Levels of Autonomy and Autonomous System Performance Assessment for Intelligent Unmanned Systems
* Communication architectures and protocols for UASs
* Ad-hoc networking, routing, handover and meshing
* Cooperation of ground, aerial and maritime unmanned vehicles
* Agent based mobility, multi-platform control, cognitive capabilities and swarm intelligence
* Results from prototypes, test-beds and demonstrations
* Remote sensing, crowd-sensing techniques and applications
* Integrated UAS/satellite (GEO, MEO, LEO, HEO, NANO) platforms
Papers should be submitted through EAI 'Confy' system at Confy, and they should not exceed 10 pages. Submissions have to comply with the Springer LNICST format.
Accepted papers will be published in Springer's LNICST series and will appear in the SpringerLink, one of the largest digital libraries online that covers a variety of scientific disciplines, as well as in the EAI's own EU Digital Library (EUDL). LNICST volumes are submitted for inclusion to leading indexing services, including DBLP, Google Scholar, ISI Proceedings, EI Engineering Index, CrossRef, Scopus.
